RE: CANCELLATION ANNOUNCEMENT: 2020 Cyber Focus Day Symposium
Over the last few weeks, the Board of Directors for ISSA-COS has been closely monitoring the progression of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Like many other organizations, we take seriously the need to protect the health and well-being of anyone attending, volunteering, guest speaking, or sponsoring our events.
In recent weeks, right up to today, we have observed multiple organizations postponing or cancelling scheduled events. Area businesses are closing visitor access to their facilities and prohibiting employees for attending conferences, trade shows, or other external business functions. Furthermore, it was announced on Tuesday (3/10/2020) that Colorado Gov. Polis declared a “State of Emergency” in preparation for a state-sponsored response to the virus.
Although our chapter values the importance of hosting high quality Cyber-focused events, we cannot justify putting participants for these events at a potential risk to their health. That said, the ISSA-COS Board of Directors has decided to cancel the 2020 Cyber Focus Day Symposium. Within the next two weeks, we will process all necessary registration refunds. We are hopeful the crisis will pass in time for the 10th Anniversary Celebration of our annual Peak Cyber Symposium; scheduled for Sep. 15-17, 2020.
For the duration of this crisis, ISSA-COS will investigate alternative methods for individuals to continue participating in our upcoming events (i.e., chapter meetings, mini seminars, etc.). Please remain connected with ISSA-COS via email and our website (www.issa-cos.org), as well as LinkedIn, FaceBook, and Twitter for information regarding all our upcoming events.
In closing, we recommend everyone exercise caution, care, and common sense in their efforts to avoid and reduce the spread of this virus. For your convenience, we offer the following resources to help you monitor this situation.
