Topic: “Ethics in Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems”As machine learning becomes more widespread and capable and autonomous systems like self-driving cars inch closer to reality, machines will have to make decisions previously made only by humans. This is especially true (and especially critical) when it comes to military weapons.

There are plenty of hard questions here, and no easy answers. However, we need to start thinking about these questions. Autonomous weapons are nearly here, and they will be used. As members of a field that routinely has to consider the dangers of new technologies, we need to start thinking about how we’ll answer the difficult ethical and practical questions this technology is bringing – faster than we’d like.

NOTE: Advanced Registration is FREE until 11:30 PM on 17 May. Thereafter, a $10 registration fee will be imposed and will be applicable to late registrants and walk-ins.
