Guest Speaker: Darla Lindt
Topic: Cyber Insurance
Cyber Insurance: Cyber Insurance is the lifeline to businesses that have experienced a cyber event. Cyberattacks are the modern day crime and cyber insurance is the new solution. Insurers are seeing 90% of cyber insurance claims are 1st Party not 3rd Party as some would believe. Companies are at risk of going out of business with exponential costs from a cyber event. Case studies from Insurance Underwriters show how cyber insurance can save a company. Darla Lindt, CyRM will share several case studies supporting why companies need cyber insurance and what happens if they are not properly covered.
Darla Lindt, a designated Cyber Risk Manager (CyRM), serves the National Cyber Exchange (NCX) as the Director of Risk Management, offering nearly 30 years of experience in Leadership, Business Development and Strategic Planning. Darla is the Branch Owner of TWFG Insurance Services, an independent insurance agency specializing in cyber insurance. Extending her reach beyond advising clients, Darla is a dynamic presenter helping various groups gain valuable understanding of cyber insurance. Darla equips Business Owners, C-Suite Executives, and Board of Directors with the necessary tools to position their companies with a competitive edge by incorporating cyber insurance in their cybersecurity profile.
Do-It-Yourself Cyber Engineer’s Toolkit (DIY CET) Session Three
As 2019 marches on, the ISSA-COS Training Committee is continuing their hands-on sessions called “Do-It-Yourself Cyber Engineer’s Toolkit (DIY CET).” During the various sessions, attendees will receive software and introductory training necessary to build their own cyber toolkit and laboratory. They will also learn how to scan home networks for vulnerabilities, how to build (or update) a home or home office firewall, and many other tasks essential to cyber security. These sessions will be interspersed with other presentations throughout the year.
DIY CET Instructor: Mark Heinrich/Jeff Tomkiewicz
Topic: Session 3 – NMAP Network Scanner
ISSA-COS attendees will learn and conduct a hands on demonstration with Nmap network scanner. Nmap is used to discover hosts and probing computer networks, including host discovery and service and operating system detection.
ISSA-COS participants will continue using their distributions containing VirtualBox, Kali Linux, and Ubuntu Linux to load onto participant’s machines. If you have your own distributions, feel free to use them.
Please see the invite for the event schedule.
This is a great training opportunity for those wanting to broaden their knowledge or need CPE/CEUs to maintain their existing certifications.
